Chasing Stillness: My Journey to Sri Lanka

On October 3th, I booked my trip to Sri Lanka — and with that click, a new adventure began to take shape in the distance. My focus has shifted; the decision that Sri Lanka has something waiting for me has brought a quiet sense of peace to my mind.

Now I can finally start diving into the many adventures this fascinating island has to offer. But the most important part of this journey isn’t the destination itself — it’s about discovering whether surfing can have a positive impact on my mind. I cross my fingers that it can, because it will become part of all my routines — my ongoing pursuit of a path toward more joy.

Right now, as I write this, I’m about to start my breath-hold training — another one of my small daily rituals to still my thoughts and give my mind some air, a kind of pause button for the world. My goal for the next month is to reach four minutes of calm in complete silence. My record is 4:20, but this time I’m approaching it differently — with more awareness, more intention.

It’s all part of my ongoing experiments: finding ways to take a break from a world that moves too fast and feeds us endless streams of information we become addicted to but don’t truly need.

The pursuit of simplicity continues. The pursuit of balance — my balance.
